The Family Resource Center is on the North side of 31st between
Holmes and Charlotte with the church facilities on the right.
The Family Resource Center is operated by True Light Church of the Nazarene
and provides assistance the community through a variety of social service outreaches
They also do many referrals to other social services located in the area.
The church also owns two storefronts on the South side of the the street and a house
right behind them. These buildings house their clothing and food bank, a dayroom
for homeless women, and regular classes for single mothers in areas such as
parenting, cooking, and nutrition.
East 31st Street facing West. The church space is on the corner of 31st &
Charlotte - just three blocks West of Troost Ave. in a very needy area
of Kansas City. It is a small congregation that serves people who live in
this depressed area. Pastor Alice Piggee-Wallack, a woman with a
gigantic heart, has her MSW along with her seminary training.
